White Petrolatum (57.3%) is the primary active — an ultra-effective occlusive agent that forms a thick, protective moisture barrier over the ocular surface and inner eyelid during sleep, preventing the transepidermal and transocular water loss that causes morning dry eye symptoms, crusting, and discomfort. Mineral Oil (42.5%) provides the complementary lubricating component — a smooth, long-lasting ophthalmic-grade lubricant that reduces friction between the eyelid and corneal surfaces throughout the night. The Sensitive formulation is specifically preservative-free — the standard Lacri-Lube contains Chlorobutanol preservative, while Refresh PM Sensitive contains no preservative, making it the preferred choice for patients with preservative sensitivity.
